Our “Breakfast with an EMpact 2025” Sponsorship
We had the incredible privilege of serving up some of our favorite breakfast dishes for an even better cause. The annual “Breakfast with an EMpact” fundraiser at First Security Bank in Benton brought our community together to support the amazing work of EMpact One Foundation and we couldn’t be prouder to be part of it.
At Vibrant Occasions, we’ve always believed that food has the power to bring people together. But when that same food can help create opportunities for young people in our community? That’s when the magic really happens.
EMpact One Foundation does incredible work empowering youth through leadership development, athletic programs, and character building. Their Tuition Assistance Program helps give kids access to gymnastics, swimming, soccer, and other activities that might otherwise be out of reach. As parents ourselves, Serge and I know how transformative these experiences can be for children.
“When we can serve delicious food while helping provide opportunities for young people to thrive in athletics and leadership development, that’s exactly the kind of event we’re passionate about sponsoring,” says Chef Serge.
The Menu That Stole Hearts (and Supported a Great Cause)
We brought two of our signature breakfast creations that have become absolute community favorites:
OMG! French Toast – and trust us, the name says it all! We stuff fresh brioche with mascarpone, then top it with vanilla mascarpone (yes, double mascarpone because why not?), a touch of maple, fresh strawberries, and toasted coconut. It’s the kind of breakfast that makes you close your eyes on the first bite.
Taco Breakfast Bowl – A hearty start to the day with country-fried potatoes, fluffy scrambled eggs, our tender shredded brisket, cotija cheese, and fresh pico de gallo. It’s comfort food with a kick that keeps people coming back for more.
A Community Coming Together
What struck us most about the event wasn’t just the delicious food or even the funds raised, it was seeing our Benton community rally around our youth. From 7 AM to 10 AM, neighbors, friends, and families streamed through First Security Bank, all united by a common goal: giving our kids the tools they need to succeed.
Even though pre-orders had closed, we made sure to have extra meals available for walk-ins because we know how important it is that everyone who wants to participate can be part of this mission.
Looking Forward
This marks another year of our partnership with EMpact One Foundation, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s event. There’s something special about using our culinary skills to make a real difference in Saline County, and events like these remind us why we fell in love with the catering business in the first place.
Food is about more than just nourishment – it’s about connection, community, and creating moments that matter. Yesterday’s breakfast was all of that and more.
Get Involved
If you missed yesterday’s event but want to support EMpact One Foundation’s incredible work with our youth, you can still make a difference. Visit their website to learn more about their programs or consider donating to support their mission of empowering, motivating, and inspiring positive change in our community’s young people.

A Garden Dream Wedding Come True at Grandeur House
Sometimes the most beautiful love stories begin with the most unexpected moments. For Molly and Sterling, their journey started with a near-cancelled hiking date (thanks to some uninvited bat houseguests!) and led to a magical proposal under a lunar eclipse in Key Largo. When it came time to celebrate their love, they created a wedding day that was everything they dreamed of – soft, romantic, and absolutely enchanting.
From Bats to “I Do”
We have to share this adorable meet-cute story! Molly and Sterling connected through a dating app and planned their first date hiking Pinnacle Mountain. The night before their adventure, Molly discovered several baby bats had made their way into her family’s living room through the fireplace. After hours of “bat wrangling” (as she perfectly put it), she was exhausted and asked to reschedule. Thank goodness Sterling was understanding – their rescheduled hike became the beginning of something beautiful!
A Proposal Under the Stars
Fast forward to their romantic getaway in Key Largo, where Sterling had planned the perfect proposal under a total lunar eclipse. When storm clouds initially obscured their view, they thought the moment was lost. But at midnight, Sterling woke Molly as the skies cleared to reveal the stunning eclipse. There on the moonlit beach, with waves gently lapping the shore, he asked her to marry him under the most magical celestial backdrop imaginable.
Bringing Their Garden Vision to Life
For their wedding at the stunning Grandeur House, Molly envisioned something “light and airy like we were in a garden.” The talented team at Silks A Bloom brought this dream to life with gorgeous arrangements in various shades of pink accented with pops of dusty blue. Every centerpiece and floral detail captured that soft, romantic garden feeling Molly had imagined.
A Menu Worth Remembering
As their caterers, we were thrilled to create a dining experience that perfectly complemented their celebration. We started the evening with passed appetizers during the bridal party photos – ham and cheese sliders and spinach artichoke crostini that kept everyone happily fed while the photographer captured those precious moments.
For dinner, we served up a feast that had guests raving: our signature chimichurri chicken and bulgogi brisket (which became the star of the show!), accompanied by twice-baked potatoes, roasted broccoli, fresh salad, and warm rolls. The bulgogi brisket was such a hit that Molly and Sterling ended up enjoying three more servings of it after the wedding – now that’s what we call a successful menu!
We love when couples are adventurous with their food choices, and Molly and Sterling’s combination of flavors created a dining experience that was both sophisticated and satisfying. There’s nothing better than hearing guests rave about the food and seeing the happy couple still enjoying the leftovers days later.
Sweet Endings
The gorgeous cake by Blue Cake Company was a work of art, adorned with colorful buttercream flowers that perfectly matched the garden theme. With flavors including chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and strawberry filling, strawberry cake with lemon curd, and vanilla cake with cookies and cream, there was something to delight every palate.
A Team Effort
Weddings like this don’t happen by magic – they’re the result of incredible vendors working together. Wedding planner Kaitie Gill orchestrated every detail flawlessly, while Kayleigh Ross Photography captured every beautiful moment. The result was a celebration that truly reflected Molly and Sterling’s vibrant personalities and their vision for their perfect day.
From their adventurous first date to their celestial proposal to their garden-inspired wedding, Molly and Sterling’s love story is one for the books. While they didn’t jet off on a traditional honeymoon (they were busy moving to Dallas for new jobs!), they started their married life with hearts full of love and memories from a truly perfect wedding day.
We’re honored to have been part of Molly and Sterling’s special day. There’s nothing we love more than creating delicious memories for couples embarking on their greatest adventure together.

Jacob & Casey Hunt’s Western Wonderland at Florence Farms
Some love stories start with a swipe, others with a coffee shop meet-cute. But Jacob and Casey’s? It began with a Snapchat notification that would change their lives forever. From teenage friends separated by states to a couple building their dream life in Arkansas, their wedding day at Florence Farms was the perfect culmination of a love story that proves distance is just a number when you’ve found your person.
From Friends to Forever
At 16 and 17, Jacob and Casey connected through Snapchat’s “people you may know” feature. After three months of getting to know each other online, Jacob asked Casey to dinner – only to discover they were states apart! Most people might have called it quits there, but not these two.
“After a year of Jacob being in the ‘friend zone,’ he got the courage and asked ‘Why not?'” Casey recalls. “That’s when I realized I had the man of my dreams right in front of me all along.”
For a year, Jacob visited Casey in Houston until she was able to make the move to Arkansas at 18. Four years, four homes, and three adorable pets later (including their horse Sage!), Jacob proposed under a gorgeous giant oak tree overlooking the rolling hills of Northwest Arkansas.
Bringing Their Vision to Life
When it came to planning their October wedding, Jacob and Casey had a clear vision: “Western and Chic with a mix of whimsical.” Working with the incredible Brittany Paden from Brittany Bloom Events & Design, they transformed Florence Farms into their dream celebration.
“We dreamed of this day since we were two kids in high school,” Casey says. “When it came around, it felt like a dream all day.”
Brittany’s expertise shone through every detail, from coordinating the stunning floral installations to ensuring the timeline flowed seamlessly. Her ability to translate Jacob and Casey’s vision into reality while managing all the moving pieces made their day absolutely magical.
A Forest Fairy Tale
The floral design by Bloom Floral & Gifts was absolutely breathtaking. Jacob and Casey told them: “We want to bring the outside IN! We want the florals to give off the same vibe as if we went on a nature walk together or got married in the woods.”
The result was pure magic – antler sheds nodding to Casey’s childhood hunting days, magnolia flowers that grew outside her childhood home, and rich fall foliage that reminded them of the season Jacob proposed. Every element told a piece of their story while creating an enchanted woodland atmosphere.
Western Chic Style
Casey stayed true to her Texas roots, wearing her signature cowboy boots with her stunning RISH gown from A and Be Bridal in Dallas. Her style perfectly captured that “boho country chic” aesthetic she’s known for with flowing fabrics, beautiful beading, and a look that was authentically her.
Jacob kept things comfortable yet distinguished in jeans paired with a sharp coat from Men’s Wearhouse, while his groomsmen coordinated in matching button-ups. The bridesmaids looked gorgeous in deep olive satin dresses from Revelry, adding rich autumnal tones to the celebration.
When Comfort Food Meets Celebration
Here’s where we come in! As self-proclaimed “picky eaters,” Jacob and Casey knew exactly what they wanted for their wedding menu, and we loved their approach. Pizza was the star of the show, because sometimes the best celebrations are built around the foods that make you happiest.
“When deciding what to serve our guests, we knew it was a no-brainer,” Casey explains. We complemented their pizza selection with vodka pasta and fresh salad options, creating a menu that was both delicious and true to who they are as a couple.
During cocktail hour, we served one of our favorite passed appetizers that had special meaning for the couple: grilled cheese and tomato soup shooters. This was a sweet nod to Casey’s time working at Panera Bread during their long-distance dating days!
There’s something beautiful about couples who choose food that reflects their authentic selves rather than what they think they “should” serve. Jacob and Casey’s menu was approachable, delicious, and kept their guests happy and well-fed throughout the celebration.
Sweet Endings
Rick’s Bakery created a beautiful three-tier white cake adorned with floral accents that echoed the venue’s stunning arrangements. Topped with a special cake topper from Etsy, it was the perfect sweet ending to their celebration. In the sweetest twist, Jacob and Casey now use their cake topper in a flower vase at home, admiring it each month when Jacob brings Casey fresh flowers.
The Most Unique Wedding Gift Ever
Two months before their wedding, Jacob surprised Casey with perhaps the most thoughtful gift imaginable…a horse named Sage. This 4-year-old mustang (previously wild in Nevada) reconnected Casey with her passion for horseback riding, which had been crucial to her identity since age 11.
“When I look at her, I see the love and acceptance Jacob has for my passions and dreams,” Casey shares. “Sage will always be a reminder of the special time period before we were married.”
Winning People’s Choice at Saline County Eats 2025
What an absolutely incredible evening we had at Saline County Eats! We’re still buzzing with excitement from the festivities, and honestly, we can’t stop smiling. When the Bryant Chamber of Commerce announced they were bringing back this beloved community event (formerly known as Taste of Bryant), we knew we had to be part of it. And wow, did it exceed all our expectations!
The People Have Spoken
We are beyond thrilled and deeply honored to announce that Vibrant Occasions was voted the Saline County Eats 2025 People’s Choice winner! When they called our name, our entire team just erupted with joy. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of knowing that your community – the people you serve every day – believes in what you do enough to vote for you.
This recognition means everything to us because it came directly from the people of Saline County. These are our neighbors, our clients, our friends, and the families we’ve had the privilege of serving over the years. To have them choose us among so many amazing local food establishments? We’re honestly still processing it all.
A Family Affair
One of the sweetest parts of the evening was getting to be “booth buddies” with Brian Krikorian and his Different Dough Pizza Co. For those who don’t know, Brian is Serge and Mary’s son, so this was truly a family affair! There’s something so special about working alongside your children and watching them pursue their own culinary dreams. Different Dough Pizza Co. has been making waves in the community, and we couldn’t be prouder of Brian’s passion and dedication.
Having two generations of the Krikorian family represented at the event felt like such a full-circle moment. From Serge’s journey from Lebanon to Arkansas, to building Vibrant Occasions with Mary, to now watching their son create his own mark in the food industry…it was a beautiful reminder of how food truly brings families and communities together.
The Saline County Food Scene is Incredible
The level of talent represented at Saline County Eats was absolutely mind-blowing. We were surrounded by so many amazing vendors, each bringing their own unique flavors and specialties to the table:
- Chicken Salad Chick
- Dunkin Donuts
- Freddy’s
- Chepe’s Mexican Grill
- Layne’s Chicken Fingers
- HteaO
- Riverside Catering
- Harps
- Verona Italian Restaurant
- Sam’s Club
- Don Pepe’s
- Eat My Catfish
- Sugar Dumplings Cupcakes
- Kinfolk Acres
Plus support from Alcoa Community Federal Credit Union! The diversity of flavors, from international cuisine to Southern comfort food to sweet treats, really showcased what makes Saline County’s food scene so vibrant and exciting.
More Than Just an Event
What struck us most about the evening was how Saline County Eats represents everything we love about our community. This was a celebration of local businesses, family traditions, and the way food brings people together. Watching families sample different dishes, seeing kids’ faces light up when they tried something new, and witnessing the genuine connections between vendors and community members reminded us why we fell in love with the food industry in the first place.
The event perfectly captured that “mouth-watering journey of flavors, colors, and cultures” that the organizers promised. From 5:30 to 7:30 PM, The Center at Bishop Park was transformed into a culinary wonderland where food lovers could explore, discover, and indulge to their hearts’ content.
Community Support at Its Finest
We have to give massive credit to the Greater Bryant Chamber of Commerce for bringing this event back after a six-year hiatus. Events like this require vision, planning, and a deep commitment to supporting local businesses. The chamber’s dedication to creating opportunities for local food establishments to showcase their talents and connect with the community is exactly what makes Saline County such a special place to do business.
And can we talk about the turnout? The community showed up in a big way! Seeing so many familiar faces and meeting new food enthusiasts throughout the evening reinforced our belief that Saline County truly appreciates and supports local businesses.
What This Means to Our Team
For our team, winning the People’s Choice award at Saline County Eats is validation of everything we’ve been working toward. Every late night of prep work, every careful attention to detail, every effort to create not just great food but memorable experiences…it all led to this moment of recognition from our community.
Our team members who worked the event were absolutely glowing with pride. There’s nothing quite like watching your colleagues light up when they realize that their hard work and passion are truly appreciated. These are the moments that make all the effort worthwhile and remind us why we love what we do.
Our Heartfelt Thanks
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who voted for us, everyone who stopped by our booth, and everyone who made Saline County Eats such a memorable evening. Thank you to the Greater Bryant Chamber of Commerce for organizing such a fantastic event, and thank you to all the vendors who brought their A-game and created such an incredible showcase of local talent.
Most importantly, thank you to the Saline County community for your continued support of local businesses like ours. Your enthusiasm, your appetite for great food, and your commitment to supporting your neighbors is what makes this place so special.
We’re beyond thrilled to be your 2025 People’s Choice winners, and we promise to keep working every day to earn that trust and create unforgettable culinary experiences for our community.
Here’s to great food, amazing community, and many more vibrant celebrations ahead!

Sharing Our Heart: The Bryant Chamber Lunch N Learn Experience
What an incredible day we had at the Bryant Chamber of Commerce Lunch N Learn on May 28th! When we were invited to share our story of “Leading with the Heart: How Heart Leadership Changed Our Business,” we knew this was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up. There’s nothing we love more than connecting with fellow business leaders who are passionate about creating positive workplace cultures.
Our Journey to Heart Leadership
The presentation took us back to where it all started at that pivotal moment when we attended the Make It Better Everyday (MIBE) conference in Denver, Colorado. That experience completely transformed how we think about running a business. We came back energized and ready to implement something revolutionary: putting our people first, always.
That’s when our MIVE Culture Club was born – “Make It Vibrant Everyday.” But this wasn’t just another corporate initiative that would be forgotten in six months. This became the heartbeat of everything we do.
Meet Leo: Our Culture Club Mascot
One of the highlights of our presentation was introducing the audience to Leo, our chameleon mascot! Leo represents everything our Culture Club stands for: adaptability, vibrancy, and the beautiful way different personalities can come together to create something amazing. Just like a chameleon changes colors, our team members bring their unique personalities and strengths to create a workplace that’s constantly evolving and growing.
Leo isn’t just a cute logo – he’s a symbol of how we embrace the diversity of our team and help everyone feel valued for exactly who they are.
The Power of Understanding: Our Enneagram Journey
One of the most impactful tools we’ve implemented is having our entire team take the Enneagram personality assessment. Talk about a game-changer! When team members understand not just their own motivations and communication styles, but also their coworkers’, everything clicks into place.
During the presentation, we shared how the Enneagram has helped us build empathy and stronger connections across our team. Our chameleon mascot, featuring all nine Enneagram colors, symbolizes how diverse personalities unite toward a shared goal. It’s beautiful to watch team members who might naturally approach problems differently find common ground and support each other’s growth.
Our MIVE 5 Core Values in Action
We were excited to share our five core values that guide everything we do:
- Be Kind
- Do What’s Right
- Grow Your Heart & Mind
- Think Outside The Box
- Have Fun
These aren’t just words on our wall – they’re living, breathing principles that our team embodies every single day. As Harrison Owen said, “When the spirit of people is strong, focused, and vibrant, wonderful things happen.” That quote captures exactly what we’ve experienced since implementing heart leadership principles.
The Results Speak for Themselves
We were proud to share some concrete results of our heart leadership approach:
- A remarkable 7.6% turnover rate for regular full and part-time staff over the past four years
- Being named finalists for both “Best of Catering” AND “Best Place to Work” by AY Magazine readers and winning “AY Magazine’s Best of Catering 2025” award
- A team that genuinely enjoys coming to work and supports each other’s success
But honestly, the numbers only tell part of the story. The real magic happens in those everyday moments when team members go above and beyond for each other and our clients – not because they have to, but because they want to.
Creating Connection, Fun, and Growth
Our Culture Club is all about creating connection, fun, and growth at work. From team-building games and employee recognition to creative workshops, we focus on celebrating our team and keeping energy high. It’s more than just good vibes, it’s about open communication, mutual support, and making work a place where people thrive.
Whether team members are learning something new, bonding with a coworker, or just enjoying the moment, the Culture Club is here to make every day a little more awesome.
Heart Leadership in Practice
At Vibrant Occasions Catering, we foster an environment that attracts and retains exceptional staff who are passionate about what they do. Our Culture Club embodies the principles of Heart Leadership, recognizing that our most valuable asset is our staff. We celebrate their contributions to the company and to one another, fostering a sense of belonging and purpose.
We firmly believe that when our team is happy, it translates into unforgettable experiences for our clients and their guests. It’s not just a nice philosophy, it’s a business strategy that works.
The Ripple Effect
What we’ve learned is that heart leadership creates a beautiful ripple effect. When team members feel valued, supported, and empowered, that positive energy naturally extends to every client interaction. Our clients consistently tell us that our team’s genuine enthusiasm and care made their events even more special.
As we shared with the Bryant Chamber audience, this approach has directly contributed to our business growth and success. Happy teams create happy clients, and happy clients become our biggest advocates.
Looking Ahead
We left the Bryant Chamber event feeling so grateful for the opportunity to connect with other business leaders who share our passion for creating positive workplace cultures. The questions and engagement from attendees reminded us why we love sharing this message because we know it works, and we want to see other businesses experience the same transformation.
Heart leadership isn’t just a buzzword for us. It’s how we operate every single day. And as we continue to grow and evolve, our commitment to putting our people first will always be at the center of everything we do.
Thank you to the Bryant Chamber of Commerce for having us, and to everyone who attended for their enthusiasm and thoughtful questions. Here’s to building a business community filled with heart leaders who believe that when we take care of our people, everything else falls into place.
Remember: We are happy people making people happy!

From Finalists to Winners: Our AY’s Best of 2025 Journey
What a wild and wonderful ride this has been! When we first learned that Vibrant Occasions had been named finalists in not just one, but TWO categories for AY Magazine’s Best of 2025 contest, we were honestly speechless. To be recognized alongside Arkansas’s top businesses in both “Best of Catering” and “Best Place to Work” felt like such an incredible honor.
But then something even more amazing happened – you, our incredible community, voted us to the very top for Best Caterer!
The Journey to Recognition
The whole process started back in January with nominations, and we have to admit, we didn’t even know we’d been nominated until we got that exciting call from AY Magazine. Can you imagine? Somewhere out there, someone thought enough of what we do to put our name forward. That alone was enough to make our day – our year, really!
From there, the voting period ran from February through March, and honestly, we were blown away by the support. Hundreds of thousands of votes poured in across Arkansas, and knowing that so many of you took the time to vote for us? That’s something we’ll never forget.
What This Really Means to Us
When we started this journey back in 2002, we had big dreams but honestly had no idea where this path would take us. We just knew we loved creating beautiful food experiences and making people happy. To now be recognized as Arkansas’s Best Caterer by the readers of AY Magazine feels surreal.
But here’s what makes this even more special – we were also finalists for “Best Place to Work.” That recognition means everything to us because it validates what we’ve been working so hard to build: a company culture that truly puts our team first.
Our Heart Leadership Journey
A few years ago, we attended the Make It Better Everyday (MIBE) conference in Denver, and it completely changed how we think about running a business. We came back and implemented our MIVE culture club – “Make It Vibrant Everyday” – because we realized that taking care of our team isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s essential to everything else we want to accomplish.
Our core values of growth, innovation, balance, awesomeness, and integrity aren’t just words on a wall. They guide every decision we make, from how we treat each other to how we serve our clients. And apparently, it shows! Our 7.6% turnover rate over the past four years speaks volumes about the environment we’ve created together.
The Celebration at Rusty Tractor
The AY’s Best of 2025 Winner’s Party at Rusty Tractor Vineyards was absolutely magical. Getting to celebrate alongside other incredible Arkansas businesses reminded us just how fortunate we are to be part of such an amazing community. Our team members who attended had the time of their lives, and seeing everyone’s excitement and pride was honestly the best part of the whole experience.
There’s something so special about celebrating achievements with the people who made them possible. Our team doesn’t just work for Vibrant Occasions – they ARE Vibrant Occasions. Every single person who contributed to this recognition deserves to share in this moment.
What’s Next for Us
This recognition isn’t an endpoint…it’s fuel for what comes next. We’re more committed than ever to pushing the boundaries of what catering can be in Arkansas. Whether we’re creating a once-in-a-lifetime wedding reception or bringing our mobile kitchen to a corporate event, we want every single interaction to reflect the heart and passion that earned us this recognition.
We’re also excited to keep sharing our heart leadership journey with other businesses. From our recent presentation at the Bryant Chamber to our upcoming session with the Little Rock Regional Chamber, we love connecting with other business leaders who believe that putting people first isn’t just good for the soul – it’s good for business too.
Our Gratitude Runs Deep
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who voted, supported, and trusted us to be part of your most meaningful moments. Thank you to our incredible team who brings their whole selves to work every day. Thank you to our clients who have become like family over the years. And thank you to AY Magazine for creating a platform that celebrates Arkansas businesses doing things the right way.
Every dish we create is made with love, creativity, and a whole lot of heart. This recognition means the world to our team, and we promise to keep earning your trust every single day.
Here’s to more unforgettable events, shared plates, and vibrant celebrations ahead! The best is yet to come.
With love and gratitude,
Chef Serge and Mary Krikorian
The Entire Vibrant Occasions Family
Home is Where the Heart Is: Winning The Saline Courier’s Readers’ Choice Award
Sometimes the most meaningful recognition comes from the place you call home. When we learned that Vibrant Occasions had been named the winner of The Saline Courier’s 2025 Readers’ Choice Award for Best Caterer, we honestly didn’t have words. After all these years of serving our Saline County community, to have our neighbors choose us as their favorite? That’s a feeling we’ll treasure forever.
The Award That Means Everything
We are absolutely speechless at the continuous support we have been given from our community. We are more grateful for the opportunities we’ve been given than words can accurately say. Being named the 2025 Readers’ Choice winner by The Saline Courier represents something so much deeper than just another award – it’s validation from the people who know us best.
The Saline Courier’s annual Readers’ Choice contest is about celebrating the local businesses that make Saline County “a great place to live, learn, work and play.” The process involves community members first nominating their favorite businesses across ten different categories, then voting online to determine the winners. Knowing that people took the time to not only nominate us but then rally others to vote for us? That’s community support at its finest.
Our Saline County Roots Run Deep
Based right here in Benton, we’ve been part of this community’s fabric for over two decades. From our early days catering small gatherings to now serving elaborate weddings and corporate events throughout Saline County and the entire state of Arkansas, we’ve watched this community grow and change – and we’ve been honored to be part of so many of your most important moments.
Whether it’s a graduation party, a nonprofit fundraiser, a wedding reception, or a corporate event in Saline County, we’ve had the privilege of creating culinary experiences that bring people together. Each event has taught us something new about what our community values: authenticity, quality, and genuine care for the people we serve.
It’s About the People, Always
Our staff work incredibly hard every day to make sure that not only is our food delicious, but that we leave unforgettable memories for each and every person that we are blessed to cross paths with. This award belongs to every single team member who has poured their heart into making someone’s special day even more special.
Vibrant Occasions Catering is a dream that has become a reality because of you, our community, and our amazing family that we have the pleasure of working with every day. When Chef Serge first started developing his unique recipes in our Benton kitchen, he was cooking for neighbors who became friends, and friends who became family.
What Sets Saline County Apart
There’s something truly special about serving the community where you live, work, and raise your family. Our three sons have grown up in this business, working events around their academic and career schedules, making this truly a family-built enterprise. They’ve seen firsthand how Saline County embraces local businesses and supports the people who are committed to making this place better.
The personal connections we’ve built over the years are what make this recognition so meaningful. We’re not just the caterers who show up for your event – we’re your neighbors. We shop at the same stores, our kids go to the same schools, we support the same local causes. When you trust us with your most important celebrations, you’re trusting people who are genuinely invested in this community’s success.
From Sergio’s Pizza to Vibrant Occasions
Our journey in Saline County began with Sergio’s Pizza, that little run-down pizza parlor that Serge and Mary transformed into one of the top 1% independent pizza restaurants in the nation. Even then, we knew we were onto something special – not just the food, but the way food could bring a community together.
When we transitioned to catering and eventually launched Vibrant Occasions, we brought that same commitment to excellence and community connection with us. Every dish we create, every event we cater, every interaction we have is guided by our understanding of what Saline County values: quality, authenticity, and genuine care.
Looking Forward in Our Community
Thank you to The Saline Courier for this incredible recognition and to our community for continuing to trust us with your most meaningful moments. We look forward to serving Saline County for many years to come.
This award reminds us why we fell in love with this business in the first place: the opportunity to be part of people’s most joyful celebrations, to create memories that last a lifetime, and to do it all in a place we’re proud to call home.
A Community That Lifts Each Other Up
What we love most about The Saline Courier’s Readers’ Choice Awards is how they celebrate the entire ecosystem of local businesses that make our county special. From automotive services to entertainment, health and beauty to professional services, these awards recognize that every local business plays a role in making Saline County the vibrant community it is today.
Being part of that directory of winners – knowing that residents can turn to this list when they’re looking for quality local businesses – is both an honor and a responsibility. It means we need to keep earning that trust every single day.
Our Promise to You
To everyone who nominated us, voted for us, and continues to choose us for your special events…thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This recognition belongs to you as much as it belongs to us, because without your support, trust, and enthusiasm, none of this would be possible.
We promise to keep working every day to earn the title of Saline County’s favorite caterer. We promise to keep innovating, keep caring, and keep creating those unforgettable experiences that make your celebrations truly special.
Here’s to Saline County, here’s to community, and here’s to many more years of making people happy with great food and genuine care.

Comfort Food Classics: Chef Serge’s Holiday Casseroles
When Chef Serge Krikorian recently appeared on THV11’s The Vine, hosts Adam Bledsoe (sporting a rather festive turkey hat!) and Ashley King got a taste of two crowd-pleasing casseroles that are perfect for any gathering, not just the holidays. While this segment originally aired during Thanksgiving, these comforting dishes are crowd-pleasers year-round.
Let’s dive into two classic recipes that Chef Serge has perfected over his years of catering: Au Gratin Potatoes and Corn Casserole. These dishes have graced countless events, from intimate family gatherings to large-scale celebrations.
The Au Gratin Potatoes recipe has French origins, with “gratin” referring to the crispy, golden crust that forms on top. Chef Serge’s version elevates the traditional recipe by combining three distinctive cheeses: sharp cheddar, provolone, and parmesan. This trio creates a complex flavor profile that sets this dish apart from standard potato casseroles. The key to perfection lies in slicing the potatoes uniformly thin (about 1/8 inch) – a mandolin is your best friend here!
The Corn Casserole, on the other hand, represents the best of Southern comfort food with a spicy twist. By incorporating fresh jalapeños, Chef Serge adds a subtle kick that complements the natural sweetness of the corn. The combination of creamed corn, whole kernel corn, and Jiffy corn muffin mix creates a unique texture that’s both creamy and slightly cake-like. This versatile dish works beautifully at both casual backyard barbecues and formal dining events.
A professional tip from Chef Serge: while both dishes can be made ahead, the Au Gratin Potatoes benefit from being baked just before serving to achieve that perfect golden-brown cheese crust. For the Corn Casserole, allowing it to rest for the full 5 minutes after baking is crucial for achieving the ideal texture.
Whether you’re hosting a holiday gathering, planning a family reunion, or catering a corporate event, these recipes deliver the perfect combination of sophistication and comfort that your guests will remember long after the plates are cleared.
Au Gratin Potatoes Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 Tbls. unsalted butter, plus additional to butter casserole dish
- 1/2 medium onion, minced
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. course ground black pepper
- 3/4 cup chicken stock
- 1 1/4 cup heavy cream, plus a little more, if necessary
- 1 1/2 lbs. russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced 1/8″ thick (a mandolin is good for this)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar
- 3/4 cup shredded provolone
- 1/4 cup shredded parmesan
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- Melt 2 Tbls. butter in a dutch oven and sauté the onion over medium heat until soft and translucent. Add the garlic, salt, and pepper and cook for about 30 seconds.
- Add the sliced potatoes, chicken stock, and heavy cream to the pot and bring to a good simmer (not a boil). If needed, add more heavy cream to cover the potatoes.
- Cover, reduce the heat to medium-low, and gently simmer until the potatoes are nearly tender when pierced with a knife, about 15 to 20 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning, if necessary.
- Transfer the mixture to a buttered 8 x 8″ or equivalent sized baking dish.
- Combine the cheeses and sprinkle over the top of the potatoes. Set the baking dish on a baking sheet and cook in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes for the casserole or just until the sauce is bubbling and the cheese is melted and the potatoes are cooked through.
- Cool a few minutes before serving.

- In a large bowl, combine all ingredients, including onions and peppers, except for the cheddar cheese.
- Pour into a greased 9 x 13 casserole dish or 10-inch cast iron skillet.
- Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
- Top with shredded cheddar. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the top begins to brown.

A Fun Guacamole Bar Featured on THV 11’s The Vine
If you’re looking to add a touch of excitement to your next gathering, look no further than a guacamole bar! This interactive station allows your guests to customize their own guacamole creations, making it the perfect addition to tailgate parties, barbecues, and any festive gathering. Recently, Chef Serge Krikorian showcased a delicious basic guacamole recipe on THV 11’s The Vine with co-hosts Adam Bledsoe and Ashley King. Let’s dive into the details of this recipe, explore its origins, and discuss how to set up a fabulous guacamole bar!
The Origins of Guacamole
Guacamole has its roots in Mexico, dating back to the Aztecs who first made it using avocados, spices, and tomatoes. The name “guacamole” comes from the Nahuatl word āhuacamolli, which translates to “avocado sauce.” Traditionally, it’s served as a dip, condiment, or topping, and it’s beloved for its creamy texture and fresh flavors. Today, guacamole has evolved into a versatile dish, perfect for personalizing with various toppings and mix-ins.
Basic Guacamole Recipe
Ingredients:
– 3 ripe avocados
– 1 lime (juiced)
– 1 small onion, finely diced
– 1 medium tomato, diced
– 1 jalapeño, finely diced (optional for heat)
– 1 clove roasted garlic (or fresh garlic)
– ¼ teaspoon ground cumin
– Salt (kosher, smoked sea salt, or your choice) to taste
– Freshly ground black pepper to taste
– 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
Instructions:
- Prepare the Aromatics in the Molcajete:
In a mortar, add the roasted garlic clove (or fresh garlic), a pinch of salt, and the diced jalapeño. Use the pestle to grind the ingredients into a smooth paste. The rough texture of the molcajete helps release the flavors more intensely.
- Add the Onion and Cumin:
Add the finely diced onion and cumin into the mortar. Continue grinding until the onion starts to break down slightly, blending with the garlic and jalapeño mixture.
- Mash the Avocados:
Slice the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into the mortar. Use the pestle to gently mash the avocado into the garlic and onion paste. You can leave it as chunky or as smooth as you like.
- Add Lime Juice and Season:
Squeeze the juice of one lime over the avocado mixture, and stir it in with the pestle. Add salt (kosher or smoked sea salt) and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
- Mix in the Tomatoes and Cilantro:
Gently fold in the diced tomato and chopped cilantro with a spoon. Avoid using the pestle at this stage to keep these ingredients fresh and intact for texture.
- Taste and Adjust:
Taste the guacamole, and if necessary, adjust the seasoning with more salt, lime, or cumin.
Suggested Ingredients for a Guacamole Bar
To create an unforgettable guacamole bar, set up a variety of toppings and add-ons that your guests can mix into their guacamole. Here are some delicious options:
– Citrus Options: Lime, red wine vinegar
– Fresh Veggies: Diced jalapeños, tomatoes, onions, grilled corn
– Spices: Cumin, various salts (smoked sea salt, Himalayan pink salt, black salt, kosher salt)
– Flavors: Roasted garlic, cilantro
– Optional Add-ons: Roasted poblano, fire-roasted tomatoes, chorizo, shredded chicken, shrimp, cotija cheese
Why a Guacamole Bar is Perfect for Events
A guacamole bar is not only interactive but also allows for customization to cater to diverse tastes. Here are a few reasons why it’s an excellent choice for your next event:
– Fun and Interactive: Guests love getting hands-on with their food, and a guacamole bar encourages creativity and engagement.
