Vibrant Occasions Catering Wins International Award for “Micro Event of the Year”
If you’ve been following along with us, you know we believe food should do more than just feed people. It should tell a story, create connection, and turn moments into something unforgettable.
This week, that belief was recognized on an international stage.
We’re honored and still a little in disbelief to share that Vibrant Occasions Catering has won the 2026 ACE Award for Catered Micro Event of the Year.
What This Award Means
The ACE (Awards for Catering Excellence) are presented at Catersource + The Special Event, North America’s leading conference for catering and event professionals.
Winners are selected by industry experts and recognized for excellence in:
- Event design
- Culinary innovation
- Guest experience
- Overall execution
To put it simply, this recognition reflects not just what we do, but how we do it.
And for a Benton, Arkansas catering company to be recognized on this level, it means everything to us.
The Event That Won: FUSION360°
The award-winning experience, FUSION360°, was designed as an intimate micro event for just 15 guests. What it lacked in size, it made up for in impact.
Hosted at Rusty Tractor Vineyards in Little Rock, this event took guests on a five-course culinary journey across the globe, blending international flavors with Southern hospitality.
Each course told a story, featuring influences from:
- Italian
- Lebanese
- Indian
- Turkish
- French
All thoughtfully fused with American techniques and local ingredients.
From passed hors d’oeuvres like East Meets West Pork Belly to a finale of a bourbon-infused French tart, every detail was intentionally crafted to create a fully immersive experience.
But it didn’t stop at the food.
The evening included:
- Coordinated lighting and music
- Cultural visuals and storytelling
- Wine pairings curated for each course
- A meaningful partnership with the Arkansas Foodbank
Because for us, great catering is not just about what is on the plate. It is about how it makes people feel.
Why Micro Events Matter (And Why They’re Trending)
One of the reasons this award means so much is because it highlights something we have been passionate about for years.
Intimate, high-impact events are redefining the future of catering.
Micro events allow for:
- More personalized guest experiences
- Elevated menu design
- Intentional storytelling
- Deeper connection between guests
Whether it is a luxury wedding dinner, a corporate executive gathering, or a private celebration, smaller events can create some of the most meaningful moments.
As an Arkansas catering team, we love bringing that level of intention and creativity to events right here at home.

The Story Behind Each Dish at FUSION360° & Supporting Hunger Action Month
Recently, Vibrant Occasions Catering presented FUSION360°, an intimate culinary experience at Rusty Tractor Vineyards that took 15 Arkansas tastemakers on a journey through international fusion cuisine. The evening began with three passed hors d’oeuvres served during the welcome reception: East Meets West Pork Belly, Bayou Wanderer Taco, and Mediterranean Embrace Dates, all paired with carefully selected wines. Guests then moved into The Barrel Room for five plated courses representing Italian, Lebanese, Indian, Turkish, and French traditions blended with American flavors, with each course accompanied by coordinated wine pairings, country-specific floral designs, music, and lighting. The event supported Arkansas Foodbank in recognition of Hunger Action Month.
The event was a collaborative effort featuring Rusty Tractor Vineyards as co-host and venue, Meredith Events for planning and design, VINO Distribution providing wine and presentation with François and Kellee Guilloux, Rose of Sharon Floral Design Studio creating country-specific floral design, Central Arkansas Entertainment with DJ Jellybean providing music and lighting, Weaver Films capturing videography, and Arkansas Foodbank as our charitable partner. While Lori Sparkman Photography served as the official event photographer, we’re sharing images captured by Devin Colin Alanis of Vibrant Occasions for this initial blog post.
Understanding Fusion Cuisine
Fusion cuisine is the art of blending culinary traditions from different cultures to create something entirely new while honoring the essence of each tradition. It’s not simply mixing random international ingredients. It’s about understanding the soul of each culture’s food and finding harmony between them. Chef Serge Krikorian’s approach to fusion cuisine is deeply personal, informed by his Lebanese heritage and his experience living in America. Born in Lebanon and having moved to the United States as an adult, Chef Serge naturally understands how cultures can meet and create something extraordinary together. His ability to honor traditional flavors while incorporating American ingredients and techniques has become his signature, allowing him to create dishes that tell stories of cultural connection and shared experience.
The Menu: Dish Names and Inspiration
Welcome Bites
East Meets West Pork Belly
Crispy pork belly glazed in sweet and savory sauce, served atop sushi rice with refreshing Asian slaw
The name “East Meets West” symbolizes the cultural exchange between continents: Asian culinary traditions meeting American preparation. This dish represents the fusion of Asian-inspired elements (sushi rice, Asian slaw) with American pork belly, creating a literal bridge between Eastern and Western flavors on a single plate.
Bayou Wanderer Taco
Cajun shrimp taco topped with Bayou Bengal Sauce and lime slaw
“Bayou” references Louisiana’s Cajun culture and waterways, while “Wanderer” suggests the journey of flavors traveling from Louisiana bayous into new territory. This dish fuses Cajun spices with Mexican taco format, representing how American regional cuisines can cross borders and create something unexpected.
Mediterranean Embrace Dates
Medjool dates stuffed with creamy Chevre, wrapped in applewood-smoked bacon, and baked to perfection
“Embrace” symbolizes the welcoming nature of Mediterranean hospitality. Dates are a staple of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, and this dish represents the fusion of Mediterranean flavors with American bacon preparation, a perfect example of how different traditions can come together.
Global Harmony Collection
Southern Serenade Caprese (Italian-American Fusion)
Sweet Georgia peaches, heirloom tomatoes, and creamy burrata topped with fresh basil and balsamic glaze
“Serenade” evokes the romantic, musical culture of Italy, while “Southern” references Georgia peaches, blending the American South with Italian tradition. This dish takes the classic Italian caprese and elevates it with Southern American ingredients, proving that regional American flavors can enhance Mediterranean classics.
Beirut Sunset Trout (Lebanese-American Fusion)
Oven-roasted Delta rainbow trout served with Arabian chimichurri and tahini sauce
“Beirut” honors Lebanon’s vibrant capital city, while “Sunset” references the beautiful Mediterranean coastline and evening dining culture. This dish holds special meaning as it combines Lebanese flavors (tahini, Arabian chimichurri) with American Delta trout, reflecting Chef Serge’s own Lebanese-American journey and his ability to honor both cultures authentically.
Spice Route Pot Pie (Indian-American Fusion)
Curried chicken pot pie with flaky pie crust and creamy curried chicken filling
“Spice Route” references the historic trade routes that brought Indian spices to the world, representing the journey of flavors from India to America. This dish takes traditional American comfort food (pot pie) and infuses it with Indian curry spices, showing how warming spices can transform familiar dishes into something adventurous yet approachable.
Ottoman Harvest Ribs (Turkish-American Fusion)
Braised short ribs marinated in aromatic seasonings and slow-braised, finished with pomegranate molasses, crushed pistachio, and sumac onions
“Ottoman” honors the rich Turkish Ottoman Empire heritage, while “Harvest” suggests the abundance of Turkish cuisine and agricultural traditions. American-style ribs are elevated with Turkish flavors (pomegranate molasses, sumac), demonstrating how Middle Eastern ingredients can add sophistication and complexity to classic American barbecue.
Bourbon Boulevard Tart (French-American Fusion)
Apple tart draped with Kentucky Bourbon Sauce
“Boulevard” evokes the elegance of French avenues and café culture, while “Bourbon” represents quintessential American Kentucky bourbon. This dessert showcases classic French tart technique enhanced with American bourbon flavors, bringing the evening full circle with a sweet conclusion that bridges two beloved culinary traditions.
The Power of Storytelling Through Food
Each dish name at FUSION360° told a story of cultural connection, representing the journey of flavors across continents and the harmony created when different culinary traditions meet and create something new together. This approach to fusion cuisine, honoring traditions while creating something innovative, is what sets Vibrant Occasions apart in creating memorable culinary experiences that go beyond just serving food. We create stories, connections, and moments that guests remember long after the last bite.
FUSION360° Impact: Supporting Hunger Action Month
Beyond creating an unforgettable culinary experience, FUSION360° served a greater purpose. The event supported Arkansas Foodbank in recognition of Hunger Action Month, collecting non-perishable donations to help address food insecurity in our state. Arkansas ranks first nationally for food insecurity, making this partnership especially meaningful.
The food donations collected at FUSION360°, combined with Vibrant Occasions’ ongoing commitment to reducing food waste and supporting our community, contributed to providing 400 meals in the month of September. We believe that big or small, every effort can make a difference. When we gather around the table, we have the opportunity not just to share incredible food, but to ensure that others in our community have access to meals as well.
This is what fusion truly means: bringing people together across cultures, experiences, and circumstances to create something better than what we could accomplish alone.

Love, Tacos, and Timeless Elegance at This Grandeur House Wedding
There’s something special about catering a wedding for high school sweethearts. When Andrea and Harry tied the knot at The Grandeur House in Little Rock, their love story came full circle in a celebration that perfectly balanced elegance with the relaxed, authentic warmth that defines this couple.
At Vibrant Occasions Catering, we believe the menu should reflect not just the aesthetics of a wedding, but the personalities and preferences of the couple themselves. For Andrea and Harry, that meant setting aside traditional wedding fare in favor of something more meaningful: their actual favorite foods, served in a way that felt both elevated and approachable.
A Menu as Unique as Their Love Story
The evening began during cocktail hour with passed hors d’oeuvres that set the tone for an unforgettable culinary experience. Guests enjoyed spinach-artichoke crostinis with their creamy, herbaceous filling on perfectly toasted bread, honey-chipotle barbecue chicken that balanced sweet heat with smoky depth, and saucy Asian meatballs tossed in soy sauce, fresh ginger, sesame oil, and Hoisin sauce—a crowd favorite that disappeared almost as quickly as we could pass them.
But the real showstopper? Dinner featured one of Andrea and Harry’s absolute favorite meals: a street taco bar. This fun, interactive station allowed guests to build their own perfect taco with slow-simmered shredded beef accented with colorful peppers and onions, cilantro lime rice, vibrant Mexican street corn, creamy cheese dip, and fresh salsa.
We complemented the taco bar with additional entrees that spoke to the couple’s comfort food preferences: grilled chicken alfredo pasta with rich, velvety sauce, bowtie pasta with marinara for a classic Italian touch, and green bean provençal with blistered tomatoes adding a fresh, elegant element to the spread.
The result? A menu that felt personal, delicious, and perfectly suited to the laid-back joy of the day. As their photographer noted, “Andrea and Harry were pretty much a dream couple to work with. They were so kind, laid back & had the most beautiful vision for their day.”
Designing for Connection and Comfort
The Grandeur House provided the perfect backdrop for Andrea and Harry’s vision of simplistic yet eye-catching design. Pale pinks, touches of gold, and lush magnolia leaves filled both the ceremony and reception spaces, creating an atmosphere that was both timeless and calming (much like the couple themselves).
With guests attending from as far as the Philippines and Thailand via livestream, this was a global gathering of love and support. The intimate yet inclusive nature of the day made our role as caterers especially meaningful.
Andrea’s personal touches were evident throughout, from the handmade calligraphy signs she created to the thoughtful balloon installation and the stunning three-tiered cake. Every detail worked together to create an experience that felt authentically “them.”
The Joy of Catering Meaningful Celebrations
What made this wedding particularly special from a catering perspective was how the menu became part of the couple’s story. By choosing a street taco bar and comfort food favorites over traditional plated dinners or standard reception fare, Andrea and Harry invited their guests into their world. The interactive nature of the taco station encouraged mingling and created a relaxed, celebratory atmosphere that perfectly matched the day’s vibe.
At Vibrant Occasions Catering, these are the moments we live for—when food becomes more than sustenance and transforms into an experience that reflects who our couples truly are. Whether it’s an elaborate plated dinner or a beloved taco bar, we’re honored to bring culinary expertise to the most important celebrations in our clients’ lives.
From the first bite of spinach-artichoke crostini to the last scoop of street corn, every element of Andrea and Harry’s wedding menu was crafted with care, quality ingredients, and an understanding that the best wedding food is food that makes people happy.
Congratulations to Andrea and Harry! May your marriage be as satisfying and joy-filled as that taco bar!

The Event That Almost Wasn’t (But Totally Was!)
An experience of an event that almost wasn’t- but totally was, explained from head chef, Serge Krikorian’s, point of view:
This was a hard event — but there were so many things to be grateful for. So much could have gone wrong, yet somehow everything worked out just right.
First off, the A/C cover blew clean off of Our Mobile Kitchen. Thankfully, not a single drop of rain made it inside! In true Katelyn MacGyver fashion, she climbed up there armed with duct tape and a trash bag and invented a whole new piece of equipment: the “Vibrant Occasions Emergency A/C Cover 3000.” Patent pending.
We almost drove straight into the venue, but then realized we’d have no way to get the food truck back out — which would’ve made catering future events a little tricky (and left us with some avant-garde lawn décor for a million-dollar home). Instead, the team started brainstorming solutions like pros.
And here’s where the stars aligned: the hotel happened to have a spot in the back for our food trailer. If Michelle hadn’t stopped there first, we never would’ve known! Talk about divine catering intervention.
When Mary and I got to the hotel, the team was waiting — all dressed in matching clear ponchos, with Bailey adding a chic touch of tan plastic shawl. It looked like a Project Runway “Rainy Day Catering Couture” challenge.
The team troubleshot which generator to use, so Mary and I could actually lift it and put it back without summoning an entire football team. We left the red truck behind so Mary could play “Hotshot Mary,” running errands like a superhero — getting the dog to the hotel, dashing to Walmart for lettuce, and somehow doing it all with style.
Meanwhile, the rest of the team hauled everything in the back of the truck — loaded by Turbo Jordan — in the rain. Carla, Natalie and Janice swung by the truck and handled the cold food and apps like pros. No speed rack? No problem!-Michelle and the team improvised beautifully, setting up salads right on the tables and making it work like seasoned champions.
And let’s not forget our MVP — Most Valuable Pup, Teddy — who supervised cooking operations with fierce determination. Thanks to his leadership (and maybe a few barks of encouragement), the food was on time, even though our cooking window was an hour shorter than planned.
In the end, when Mary and I arrived at the venue, we were greeted by a relaxed, smiling team who had clearly worked hard to get everything to that point. Dinner service took just 20 minutes, and the guests were thrilled!
We might’ve been wet, tired, and running on duct tape — but we pulled it off.
Catering Glow Luxury’s Couture Client Appreciation Soirée
There are moments in catering when you know you’re contributing to an experience where every detail must be absolutely impeccable. When Katherine Benson of Bella Baxter Events brought us on board to cater Lauren Williams’ Glow Luxury client appreciation dinner, we understood immediately that this wasn’t just another event. This was about honoring relationships built on trust, authenticity, and an unwavering commitment to luxury.
Understanding the Glow Luxury Story
For those unfamiliar with Glow Luxury, Lauren Williams has built something truly special in the world of preloved luxury handbags. In an industry often plagued by counterfeits and questionable authenticity, Glow Luxury has become a trusted destination where clients can buy and sell authenticated designer pieces with complete confidence. That ethos of trust, authenticity, and treating clients like family, shaped every decision about this menu.
The Setting: Arkansas Countryside Elegance
On a warm August evening, the Ashley Alexander House transformed into something out of a fashion editorial. Under an elegant tent on the Arkansas countryside, Glow Luxury’s most valued clients gathered for an intimate celebration. Tanarah Luxe Floral had created an absolutely breathtaking 8-foot floral Hermès Birkin—”not leather, but petals; not stitched, but sculpted”—that set the tone for the entire evening.
Working alongside event designer Katherine Benson of Bella Baxter Events, we knew our culinary offerings needed to match the sophistication of every other element. When you’re dining beneath an installation that reimagines the world’s most iconic handbag as living art, your menu can’t be ordinary.
Cocktail Hour: Luxury in Every Bite
We opened the evening with three carefully chosen passed hors d’oeuvres that spoke to both elegance and Arkansas seasonality:
Caviar Blini with Crème Fraîche – Because when you’re celebrating luxury handbags, caviar simply makes sense. The delicate pop of premium caviar against soft blini and creamy crème fraîche created that perfect explosion of taste that signals to guests: this is something special.
Watermelon Feta Picks – Fresh Arkansas watermelon paired with feta and mint, drizzled with pomegranate molasses. This represented our commitment to showcasing local ingredients elevated to fine-dining standards. The vibrant colors and refreshing flavors provided a perfect counterpoint to the richness of the other offerings.
Mexican Street Corn Shooters – Roasted Arkansas-grown sweet corn with cotija cheese, fresh cilantro, and seasonings served in elegant vessels. This gave us an opportunity to bring bold, unexpected flavor to an upscale setting—proving that sophistication doesn’t mean playing it safe.
The Five-Course Journey
As guests settled at the beautifully appointed table, complete with elegant cane-backed chairs, crisp linens, and those gorgeous black fans at each place setting, we embarked on a culinary journey designed to surprise and delight.
First Course: Caesar Salad in Parmesan Bowls
We started with a classic, but elevated it by serving the traditional Caesar in edible parmesan bowls with a hint of red pepper flakes. It’s a technique that shows technical skill while honoring timeless flavors.
Second Course: Grilled Arkansas Peaches
Here’s where we really celebrated Arkansas bounty. Fresh local peaches, grilled to caramelized perfection, paired with house-made fresh mozzarella, fragrant basil, and aged balsamic reduction. This course embodied everything we love about seasonal cooking…letting exceptional ingredients speak for themselves.
Third Course: Petite Wagyu Filet
The centerpiece. Pan-seared Arkansas-raised Wagyu beef draped with a white wine wild mushroom reduction, served alongside creamy mashed potatoes and locally sourced vegetables. When you’re creating a menu for clients accustomed to luxury goods, you don’t cut corners. Wagyu beef, with its exceptional marbling and butter-soft texture, was the only choice.
Fourth Course: Limoncello Lemon Sorbet
A palate cleanser that refreshed and delighted. Our minty simple syrup combined with fresh lemon juice and limoncello liqueur created a moment of brightness before the final course.
Fifth Course: New York Style Cheesecake
We concluded with classic elegance—rich, creamy New York-style cheesecake topped with fresh Arkansas berries. Sometimes the perfect ending is about honoring tradition while showcasing what makes our state special.
The Details That Matter
What makes an event like this truly successful is it’s understanding that every element must work in harmony. We coordinated closely with Katherine Benson, whose event design ensured that our plating and presentation complemented the overall aesthetic. The timing of each course was choreographed to allow for conversation and connection, not just consumption.
We also provided vendor meals for the incredible team working behind the scenes because we believe everyone deserves to eat well, whether they’re in front of the camera or behind it.
Why This Event Exemplifies Our Philosophy
Lauren Williams built Glow Luxury on principles that resonate deeply with us: authenticity, trust, and creating experiences that feel personal rather than transactional. Her business thrives because she treats clients like friends, guarantees the authenticity of every piece, and builds genuine relationships.
That’s exactly how we approach catering. We’re not just vendors showing up to serve food. We’re partners in creating moments that matter, whether it’s a bride’s wedding day, a corporate milestone, or a luxury brand celebrating the clients who made their success possible.
Fashion Meets Flavor
As the evening unfolded under twinkling lights, with DJ Derrick Dansby providing the perfect soundtrack and that magnificent floral Birkin towering over the scene, we witnessed something beautiful: the intersection of multiple forms of artistry. Tanarah Luxe Floral’s sculptural florals, Katherine Benson’s impeccable design, Jason Masters’ photography capturing every detail, and our culinary offerings, all working together to create something greater than the sum of its parts.
The guests, luxury handbag enthusiasts who understand quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail, noticed everything. They appreciated the Arkansas Wagyu, commented on the creativity of the parmesan bowls, and savored every perfectly grilled peach. These are clients who can spot a counterfeit Chanel at fifty paces; they know when something is genuine versus when corners have been cut.
Creating Experiences Worth Remembering
This is what we love most about what we do at Vibrant Occasions. Yes, we can execute a flawless five-course plated dinner for 27 discerning guests. But more importantly, we understand how to match our culinary approach to our clients’ brand values and the experience they’re trying to create.
Lauren didn’t just want to feed her clients. She wanted to thank them, celebrate them, and create an evening they’d remember every time they carry one of their beautiful bags. Mission accomplished.
To every member of the vendor team who made this evening extraordinary, from the Alpha Lit Arkansas letters to the Mahaffey tent, from Kentreal Gentry’s bar service to the transportation by Capital Car, thank you for letting us be part of something truly special.
And to Lauren Williams and the entire Glow Luxury community: thank you for trusting us to be part of your celebration. Just like you authenticate every handbag with care and expertise, we approach every dish with the same commitment to quality and authenticity.
Because whether it’s a Birkin bag or a Wagyu filet, true luxury never compromises.

Leah Seale Joins the Greater Bryant Chamber of Commerce Board
We’re bursting with pride here at Vibrant Occasions! Our Director of Community and Vendor Relations, Leah Seale, has been appointed to the Greater Bryant Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and we couldn’t think of a better person to represent the catering and hospitality industry in this leadership role.
If you know Leah, this news probably doesn’t surprise you one bit. She’s the person who lights up every networking event, remembers everyone’s name (and their dog’s name), and genuinely cares about helping local businesses succeed. That’s truly who she is.
Why This Matters to Us (and Our Community)
When Leah first joined our team, she brought something special with her: an innate understanding that business relationships should be about more than just transactions. She transformed how we connect with other vendors and event professionals, turning what could be simple business exchanges into genuine partnerships built on mutual support and shared success.
Her approach has always been refreshingly simple: show up, be helpful, and build trust. Whether she’s connecting a florist with a potential client, sharing industry insights at a networking lunch, or brainstorming solutions for a fellow vendor’s challenge, Leah embodies the kind of community-first thinking that makes our local business ecosystem stronger.
Bryant’s Incredible Growth
Here’s something exciting: Bryant is the fastest-growing city in Central Arkansas by population. That kind of growth brings tremendous opportunities for businesses like ours and for the entire region. Having Leah at the table where decisions are being made about business development, advocacy, and community initiatives means the hospitality and events industry will have a voice that truly understands our unique challenges and opportunities.
The Greater Bryant Chamber serves over 550 members, and they’re doing incredible work advocating for business-friendly policies, creating educational resources, and facilitating the kind of networking opportunities that help businesses thrive. Leah’s going to be right at home there.
What This Means for Vibrant Occasions
As Mary Krikorian, our managing partner, put it: “Leah’s appointment to the Chamber board is a natural extension of her commitment to strengthening our local business community. Her ability to build authentic relationships and create meaningful connections makes her an invaluable addition to the Chamber’s leadership team.”
For us, this appointment reinforces something we’ve believed from day one: success isn’t just about creating beautiful events and delicious food (though we’re pretty passionate about both of those things). It’s about being active participants in building a thriving, connected business community where everyone can succeed.
Leah has pioneered some innovative approaches here at Vibrant Occasions, including opening up our company culture club meetings to local event professionals and community leaders. It’s created this amazing ecosystem where ideas flow freely, collaborations happen organically, and everyone benefits from shared knowledge and resources.
Looking Ahead
We asked Leah how she’s feeling about this new role, and true to form, she’s thinking about how she can serve: “I’m honored to join the Greater Bryant Chamber of Commerce Board and contribute to our community’s economic growth. Bryant’s position presents incredible opportunities for business development. I look forward to working with fellow board members to support both existing businesses and attract new enterprises to our area.”
That’s our Leah. Always thinking about how to lift others up.
As she takes on this exciting leadership role, we want her to know how proud we are and how grateful we feel to have someone of her caliber representing not just Vibrant Occasions, but the entire hospitality industry in Central Arkansas.
Here’s to new adventures, continued growth, and the power of genuine community connection. We can’t wait to see the impact Leah will make in this role!
Congratulations, Leah! The Chamber is lucky to have you, and so are we.

Two Continents Come Together at This Beautiful Little Rock Wedding
Some love stories begin with a swipe. Others start at a coffee shop or through mutual friends. Adeyinka (Kevin) and Rebecca’s story? It started with a phone call orchestrated by Rebecca’s aunt, and a mother’s intuition that proved absolutely perfect.
A Modern Love Story with Traditional Roots
Picture this: It’s a cold January morning in New York City. Rebecca is hauling groceries up the stairs of her walk-up apartment when her phone rings. Her mother mentions “a nice young man” and asks if she can pass along Rebecca’s contact information. Rebecca (juggling bags and probably rolling her eyes) gives the quintessential response: “Sure, whatever, you may give him my information.”
Meanwhile, Kevin had just relocated to Meridian, Mississippi for a new job when Rebecca’s aunt called him with an intriguing question: “Are you single?” When he confirmed he was, she responded with barely contained excitement: “Well, I think I have the perfect girl for you!”
That afternoon, Kevin and Rebecca had their first phone conversation. Three hours flew by in what felt like minutes. The conversation flowed effortlessly…comfortable, easy, sprinkled with laughter and surprisingly deep moments. If you asked them today what they talked about, they honestly couldn’t tell you. They just knew it felt right.
Six Months of Building Something Beautiful
For half a year, Kevin and Rebecca built their relationship virtually with phone calls, text messages, video chats. They developed what they describe as “a progressive attraction” and “an undeniable bond.” Kevin knew he had to meet this woman in person.
The story of their first in-person meeting is the stuff of romantic comedies. Kevin’s phone died just as he approached Rebecca’s Upper East Side apartment. She rushed downstairs to find him before losing contact, scanning the streets until she spotted a figure in the distance. When she realized it was Kevin, she ran to him with pure excitement and literally jump-hugged him with “giddy laughter.”
From there, it was a beautiful ping-pong of travel: Rebecca to Mississippi in August, Kevin to Memphis in October to meet his parents, then to Little Rock for Thanksgiving to meet Rebecca’s family, culminating in ringing in the New Year together in New York City.
Faith, Pandemic, and Providence
On New Year’s Eve, Kevin made the 8+ hour drive from Meridian to Dallas, navigating unplanned detours with a mission that would change their lives forever. After pouring out a prayer of love and adoration, Kevin got on one knee with a ring “only fit for his queen.”
Rebecca said yes. Then, in shock, told Kevin she needed to sit down. They embraced before literally falling to the floor together, laughing with pure joy.
A Two-Day Celebration Honoring Two Continents
When it came time to plan their wedding, Rebecca and Kevin knew one day wouldn’t capture the fullness of their story. Their families hosted a traditional West African ceremony honoring their Nigerian and Ghanaian heritage. The following day, they celebrated with a worship-centered ceremony at the stunning Cold Springs Events venue.
“We are both strong believers in God and truly love how He has shown up in each of our lives individually and now collectively as a couple,” Rebecca explains. “It was very important to us that our wedding celebration was truly a worship service honoring God. We wanted all who attended to feel the presence of God.”
And they did. The ceremony became a beautiful blend of reverence and joy, so much so that when Rebecca entered the chapel and locked eyes with Kevin (they’d opted not to do a first look), she flooded with tears while Kevin silently mouthed “wow.” When their eyes finally met, they burst into that signature giddy laughter so infectious that even their officiant, Dr. Kwesi Kamau, couldn’t help but join in.
Where West Africa Meets the American South
At Vibrant Occasions, we’ve catered hundreds of weddings, but this one held special significance. Rebecca and Kevin are both first-generation West Africans who grew up in the South—she in Little Rock, Arkansas, he in Memphis, Tennessee. Rebecca’s parents hail from Ghana; Kevin’s from Nigeria. They wanted their food to tell that unique story.
For cocktail hour, we had the extraordinary honor of bringing Rebecca’s mother’s homemade recipe to life: authentic Ghanaian meat and vegetable pies that carried generations of flavor and tradition. We paired these with fried plantain bites that disappeared almost as quickly as we could pass them. Watching guests discover these West African flavors, many for the first time, reminded us why we love what we do.
The plated dinner continued the theme of honoring heritage while embracing Southern sensibilities. We focused on fresh herbs and seasonal vegetables with a hint of spice, creating dishes that felt both familiar and adventurous, traditional and innovative.
Moments That Touched Our Hearts
There were so many special touches throughout the day, but one moment stands out: Rebecca’s brother, Robert Amponsah, played “The Lord’s Prayer” on the flute, accompanied by harpist Alisa Coffey. As the piece reached its crescendo, Rebecca, gifted with a beautiful voice and heart for worship, began singing along with her father.
It was spontaneous. It was powerful. It was exactly what this celebration was meant to be.
(And can we talk about the bridesmaids carrying tambourines instead of traditional bouquets? That detail perfectly captured this musical family’s spirit and the celebration’s worship focus.)
At Vibrant Occasions, we’re grateful we could play a small part in their story—bringing Rebecca’s mother’s Ghanaian recipe to life and creating dishes that bridged continents and generations. Watching their families come together over those meat pies and plantain bites, we were reminded once again that food does more than nourish bodies. It connects hearts, preserves traditions, and creates new memories.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Okunade. Thank you for trusting us with such an important piece of your celebration. May your marriage be filled with the same joy, laughter, and “giddy” excitement that brought you together on that first phone call.

A Pakistani-American Fusion Wedding for the Books
Some love stories are written across continents, cultures, and countless shared adventures. Meraj and Anna’s journey began at Hendrix College in Arkansas, where they bonded over writing tutorials and discovered a shared passion for exploring the world. From Spain to Turkey, Italy to France, and throughout the UK, their relationship deepened with every passport stamp and shared experience.
When it came time to celebrate their marriage, they knew one day wouldn’t be enough to honor both of their backgrounds. What emerged was a four-day celebration that beautifully wove together Meraj’s Pakistani and Islamic heritage with Anna’s American roots, creating something entirely unique and deeply meaningful to both families.
A Weekend of Traditions: The Pakistani Walima
Thursday through Saturday brought traditional Pakistani ceremonies and celebrations, lovingly planned by Meraj’s parents. The grand Walima reception on Saturday at the Castle on Stagecoach became a spectacular fusion of cultures, where East truly met West in the most delicious ways possible.
At Vibrant Occasions, we had the incredible honor of creating a menu that respected Islamic dietary requirements while incorporating flavors from both cultures. This was about telling Meraj and Anna’s story through every bite.
Where Flavors Tell Stories
The cocktail hour set the tone with an eclectic international spread: delicate smoked salmon and dilled cream cheese cucumber bites mingled with fresh crudité shooters, while saucy Asian meatballs and honey chipotle barbecue chicken picks showcased the couple’s love of global cuisine.
But the real magic happened with our action stations. We created a chicken and waffles station (because nothing says celebration like Southern comfort food elevated to an art form) alongside a cheesesteak sandwich station that had guests lining up for seconds. These interactive food experiences became gathering points where families from different cultures connected over shared plates and laughter.
For dinner, we crafted a menu that honored Middle Eastern traditions while satisfying diverse palates. Our baba ganoush—roasted eggplant seasoned with sesame paste, fresh garlic, and bright lemon—became an unexpected star. We paired traditional dishes with an American french fries action station (because who doesn’t love fresh-cut fries?) and a vibrant strawberry salad featuring seedless red grapes, toasted walnuts, shredded Parmigiano, grape tomatoes, and cucumbers tossed in balsamic vinaigrette.
The result? A feast that felt both familiar and exotic, traditional and innovative.
Sunday’s Intimate American Ceremony
If Saturday was about grand celebration, Sunday was about intimate intention. Anna had always envisioned something simpler, more personal. As she puts it: “If it was up to me, our wedding day would’ve been at the county courthouse years before, but Meraj wanted a celebration which turned into four days of celebrations. Sunday’s wedding was really representative of me and what I wanted.”
Held at the stunning Grandeur House with a 2:00 ceremony, this celebration honored Anna’s vision in every detail. Her grandmother had owned Letta’s Flowers her entire life, so the day burst with vibrant, bold blooms, a living tribute to family legacy. Her godfather, who got ordained specifically for the occasion, officiated the ceremony, making every word deeply personal.
The Turkish Pizza That Made Us Cry (Happy Tears!)
For Sunday’s reception, we faced an exciting culinary challenge: creating passed heavy hors d’oeuvres that met strict dietary requirements. Meraj’s family required halal meats, Anna needed gluten-free options, and both wanted food that told their story.
We designed spectacular personal charcuterie boards, stuffed mushrooms that disappeared within minutes, elegant crostinis, and then (the piece de resistance) bite-sized lahmajoon.
Here’s where it gets beautiful: Mary from our team suggested lahmajoon (a Turkish pizza) thinking it would honor Meraj’s Middle Eastern heritage. What she didn’t know was that Meraj and Anna had shared lahmajoon together during their travels in Turkey, making it one of their most cherished memories. When Anna told us this story, there wasn’t a dry eye in our kitchen.
That’s what we love about wedding catering…sometimes you accidentally create the perfect moment without even knowing it.
Budget-Smart Brilliance
Anna and Meraj made a decision that we wish more couples would embrace: they prioritized what mattered most to them and let everything else go. They skipped traditional party favors entirely, choosing instead to invest in extraordinary food that would bring their families together.
“It was important for the couple to have both cultures represented in their food choices,” Anna explained. And honestly? Mission accomplished.
The food became the bridge between cultures, the conversation starter, the memory maker. Guests didn’t leave with monogrammed coasters but they did leave with full hearts and fuller stomachs, having experienced something truly special.
What We Learned From Meraj and Anna
Working on this cultural celebration taught us so much about what makes fusion weddings successful. It’s not about choosing one culture over another or trying to please everyone. It’s about finding those beautiful intersection points where traditions can coexist and even enhance each other.
Meraj and Anna never compromised their individual identities…they celebrated them. The Pakistani Walima honored his family’s traditions with authentic ceremony and abundant hospitality. The American ceremony reflected Anna’s desire for intimacy and personal connection. The food throughout? That became the universal language everyone spoke fluently.
The Power of Food in Cultural Celebration
There’s something profoundly connective about sharing a meal. When Meraj’s family tasted the carefully prepared halal dishes that also incorporated American influences, and when Anna’s family discovered baba ganoush and lahmajoon, barriers dissolved. Suddenly it wasn’t about “his culture” and “her culture”—it was about “our celebration.”
That’s what we’re most proud of from this weekend. Not just the flawlessly executed dishes (though we’re pretty proud of those too), but the way food facilitated understanding, sparked conversations, and created common ground.
A Celebration to Remember
Four days, two ceremonies, countless dishes, and one beautiful truth: love speaks every language. Meraj and Anna created a cultural exchange wrapped in celebration. Every thoughtful detail, from the action stations to the bite-sized lahmajoon, carried meaning and intention.
We’re grateful they trusted us to help tell their story through food. Watching their families come together, laugh together, and feast together reminded us why we do this work. It’s about feeding love stories.
Congratulations, Meraj and Anna. Thank you for letting us be part of your incredible journey.

Wedding Catering Trends for 2026: Food That Tells a Story
A New Era of Experiential Wedding Dining
The weddings of 2026 are about more than beautiful venues and stunning florals — they’re about creating moments guests will feel. Food has become a central part of that experience, blending artistry, emotion, and entertainment.
At Vibrant Occasions Catering, we’ve always believed that dining should bring joy, spark conversation, and connect people. And this year, couples are embracing that philosophy wholeheartedly. Here’s what’s capturing the hearts (and appetites) of brides in 2026.
1. Chef-Driven Stations & Interactive Cuisine
The traditional buffet is fading, replaced by chef-driven, experiential stations that invite guests into the process. Imagine a chef searing scallops on demand, a made-to-order pasta station, or tacos made right before your eyes.
These experiences transform dining into live art — each bite crafted with care and flair. Guests love being part of the action, and couples love how it reflects their creativity and personality.
In 2026, interactivity and immersion define the modern wedding menu.
2. Upscale Nostalgia
Comfort food is making a comeback — but with elegance. Couples are leaning into nostalgic favorites and giving them a gourmet twist:
- Mini chicken and waffles with hot honey drizzle
- Truffle mac and cheese in petite ramekins
- Tomato soup shooters with bite-size grilled cheese
It’s a delicious blend of memory and modern style — food that warms the heart and impresses the palate. “Upscale nostalgia” is all about familiar flavors reimagined with sophistication.
3. Elevated Late-Night Snacks
The party doesn’t end with dessert. Brides in 2026 are surprising guests with elevated late-night bites — fun, playful, and totally indulgent.
Think handheld tacos with gourmet fillings, mini milkshakes paired with cookies, a hot dog bar with different toppings, or a French fry bar with aioli and caviar. Late-night snacks are now experiences of their own, designed to keep energy high and smiles wide well past midnight.
4. Global Flavors & Creative Fusion Cuisine
Weddings are celebrating the world on a plate. Couples are blending international influences and cultural fusion to reflect their heritage, travels, or shared tastes.
You might find Korean-inspired short ribs beside Mediterranean mezze, or Indian street snacks reimagined as canapés. Brides are moving beyond safe, familiar menus and embracing food that feels adventurous and deeply personal.
At Vibrant Occasions, we love crafting menus that tell a love story through global flavors and chef-inspired creativity — where every bite sparks curiosity.
5. Street Food Goes Upscale
Street food is stepping into the spotlight — polished, plated, and full of personality. From upscale tacos and bao buns to sliders, satay, and elote, these dishes bring fun and flair to formal celebrations.
Couples are turning to street food-inspired menus because they bridge the gap between casual and elevated dining. They’re approachable, crowd-pleasing, and infinitely customizable — the perfect mix of flavor and style.
6. Personalized Menus That Tell a Story
More than ever, couples want their menus to reflect who they are. Brides are curating dishes that tell their love story — their first date meal, a hometown favorite, a signature cocktail from their travels, or the dessert they shared on the night they got engaged.
Some are even including brief menu cards or QR codes linking to photos or stories about the dish’s meaning. It’s intimate, emotional, and uniquely theirs — because food, after all, is one of the most beautiful ways to say this is us.
7. Immersive Sensory Experiences
The dining experience in 2026 engages all five senses. Beyond flavor, couples are thinking about sight, sound, scent, touch, and atmosphere.
Picture candlelight flickering as soft jazz plays, citrus aromas filling the air, and plates that look like works of art. Every detail — from texture to temperature — is designed to create a multisensory memory.
This is immersive catering at its finest — where food becomes part of the overall design, not just the meal.
The Future of Wedding Catering Is Connection
In 2026, wedding food is no longer just about feeding guests — it’s about creating connection, emotion, and wonder.
At Vibrant Occasions, we believe that every bite should tell a story and every dish should bring joy. Whether it’s an interactive station, a nostalgic favorite, or a dish inspired by your love story, our goal is the same:
